Cars in Repco Rally Australia are on their way to the Kyogle district to start day two of competition in the World Rally Championship event. The first car left the Kingscliff Service Park at 5.45 am and will start Dayco 1 in Ferndale Road, the first of 10 competitive Special Stages, at 7.29 am.
Drivers face a long and challenging day, not checking back into Kingscliff until at least 8.10pm.
“We’re looking forward to a fantastic day of World Rally competition. This is the middle day of the event and we expect big crowds again to see Sebastien Loeb, Mikko Hirvonen, Jari-Matti Latvala and the other WRC stars in action right here in our backyard in the Northern Rivers,” rally organising committee chairman Garry Connelly said.
“Jari-Matti has only a 2.2 second lead in the event, so the competition is incredibly close and his rivals can be expected to really pile on the pressure today. The World Rally Championship is narrowing down to a terrific competition between Mikko and Sebastien, so the outcome of today’s stages could be critical to their chances.
“There’s plenty for spectators to see all day. The service park at Kingscliff where people can see the cars up close is open and free to enter and tonight we’ll have another exciting Tweed Super Special Stage at Murwillunbah.”
