South Australian driver Hayden Bentley has taken full advantage of his overnight lead to win the Tatts Finke Desert Race today, round 2 of the 2013 Australian Off Road Championship. He crossed the finish line in Alice Springs in an overall time of 3 hours 42min 38 sec to take his second “King of the Desert” title. Bentley previously won the race in 2007 in a two seater Jimco, but returned in 2013 to take the win single handedly in his #18 Racer Pro-Buggy.

In just under a weeks time Alice Springs, Northern Territory will play host to Round 2 of the Australian Off Road Championship, The Tatts Finke Desert Race. 100 Cars and 550 bikes will tackle some of the harshest terrain in the southern hemisphere in an all out sprint to see who will be crowned, King of the Desert.

The Australian rally pairing of Brendan Reeves and Rhianon Smyth have again dominated the 2WD class in only their second appearance in America. Competing this weekend in the Susquehannock Trail Rally which was run out of Wellsboro in Pennsylvania, the pair again took home the 2WD honours by a big margin, with fourth overall adding to their list of achievements. Incredibly they finished just 44 seconds off a podium place, only beaten by a trio of 4WDs, all of which are much more highly powered than their Ford Fiesta R2.
