Results are what count in V8 Supercars and Jason Bright scored a good haul of points at Townsville today after finishing the 72-lap race 10th.

The Team BOC driver, who qualified 12th, said Townsville's grippy surface proved too much of a challenge for set-up this weekend, making his progress through the field very slow.

His biggest gains came at the end of the last stint when a safety car bunched the field up. The advantage he gained in fresher tyres, however, was lost as his tyre pressure plummeted behind the safety car and he only managed to make up two spots after the restart.

V8 Supercars will be back in action from August 3-5 for the Coates Hire Ipswich 300.

Jason Bright

Team BOC

"We just didn't have the pace at this track. It has a lot more grip than the last three we've been to and we're just not competitive. I thought we might have been able to make something out of it with fresher tyres at the end but as soon as our tyre pressures dropped behind the safety car we had nothing. We were very weak in that last few laps. We got two or three cars but I was never going to get any more.

"We improved the car today but you can't afford to be improving it during sessions. At Perth and Phillip Island, where we were strong, we were making small adjustments going into qualifying. Today we made four massive adjustments, and you can't afford to be doing that."
