Lowndes enjoying new helmet partner

Craig Lowndes has joined fellow V8 Supercar driver Todd Kelly in partnering with BSMSport and Stilo helmets for the 2012 season.

Lowndes debuted his new Stilo helmet at the start of this year’s V8 Supercars season, after falling in love with its advanced communications performance at a pre-season test day late last year.

In his first championship race with the new helmet at the Clipsal 500, Lowndes scored pole position, the first of his career in Adelaide, and followed through to have a great weekend despite a costly mid race puncture, finishing fifth overall.

“The improved communications technology that Stilo offers was the main reason for the switch from my previous helmet,” explained Lowndes.

“Nothing compares to Stilo helmets when it comes to clear communication with the pit crew during a race, which is one of the most important factors for both safety and performance. The helmet also ensures that I keep a cool head while racing through an innovative dual stream air flow for increased comfort.”

Australian performance equipment specialist BSMSport, the distributor of Stilo helmets in Australia, is proud to be supplying helmets to many of the leading V8 Supercar drivers, including Craig Lowndes, Todd Kelly and Lee Holdsworth.

“The feedback about the new helmet from Craig so far has been very positive,” said Nicholas Bates, General Manager of BSMSport.

“We believe that Stilo offers the most advanced motorsport helmets on the market, and we’re pleased that more leading V8 Supercar drivers are beginning to recognise this. A helmet doesn’t make someone go faster, but it can improve the overall performance of a team.

“For most other race helmet manufacturers, communications is an afterthought. Stilo’s communications are night and day compared to everyone else’s. Craig can actually hear the pits and they can hear him; that’s a big attraction.”

Stilo was founded in 1999 by former Italian Rally Champion, Ludovico Fassitelli. Their initial product line was the first open face helmet in the world designed around a state of the art rally intercom system. This quickly expanded to a complete line of the highest quality lightweight helmets, integrating headset earmuff speakers, microphone, air, and drinking systems.

The Stilo helmet worn by Craig Lowdnes and Todd Kelly is available from BSMSport for all professional and aspiring drivers. Check out BSMSport’s full range of performance equipment at www.bsmsport.com.au, or call V-Sport on 02 6227 0133.
