Wilson Brothers Racing this weekend return to the Australian Manufacturers Championship, as the Shannons Nationals take over the newly extended Morgan Park Raceway.
After missing the Dial Before You Dig Australian Six Hour at Eastern Creek due to business commitments, the Gold Coast based team return to Championship competition with driving duties to be shared between regular driver Lee Castle, and team principal Cameron Wilson, who will be racing his own Subaru WRX Sti for the very first time.
"We've been really looking forward to racing on the new layout since it was first announced a couple of years ago," Cameron Wilson said.
"I raced at the very first state championship meeting at Morgan Park back in 2002, so it will be pretty special to race there again this weekend.
"The whole team out at Morgan Park have done a sensational job with the extensions, it's a really exciting layout, with a great variety of turns.
"It was unfortunate that we missed the last round of the championship, but we had to concentrate on our other business venture, Go Karting Gold Coast, and we'll be wearing its colour on the side of the car this weekend.
"Eastern Creek was the first round that we've missed since 2007, but there was no way we were going to miss Morgan Park.
"We probably won't be on the ultimate pace of the leading EVOs, we're using an old engine that is probably 35 kilowatts down on our best ever figures, and using old left over tyres from Bathurst.
"Still, anything can happen in the one-hour long races, we're going to give it a big shake."
Castle meanwhile returns to a happy hunting ground, after taking a clean sweep of the race wins at Morgan Park at the Shannons Nationals round last year.
"I'm really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of the Go Karting Gold Coast Subaru WRX Sti," Lee Castle said.
"I'm only doing a partial season this year, after Bathurst and Phillip Island, Morgan Park is one of my favourite tracks, we had an awesome run there last year, and I think we're going to be a chance again this weekend.
"The extensions will be very interesting, it will really change the characteristics of the track, bypassing the tight flip flops with a flat out section will add another element to the racing.
"There's a good entry for Morgan Park, it's always a lot more fun when there's a big group of quick cars racing at the front."
While the Wilson Brothers Racing outfit may have missed the Australian Six Hour, the crew have still remained busy behind the scenes.
Apart from a total re-fit of the Go Karting Gold Coast complex, on the track the Subaru WRX Sti has seen state championship use with Graham Edwards behind the wheel, who competed in the third round of Queensland Championships at Morgan Park in July.
A week later the WBR team moved to the tropical north, assisting with Edward's V8 Ute Series debut, as well as their normal roll helping out the Big Gun Racing duo of Brad Patton and Peter Burnitt.
Wilson Brothers Racing would like to acknowledge the continued support of Go Karting Gold Coast, Castrol, Racing Logic, Mercury Motorsport, EcuTek, Ingear Industries, Elan Mens Salons and Subaru Sti Australia for their assistance in team's Australian Manufacturers Championship efforts.
