Snake Racing/AGI SPORT Formula 3 team took a clean sweep of all three NSW State Formula races at Wakefield Park, Goulburn last weekend. It is only the team’s third time on the track since its inception in early 2012. Driver Nathan Gotch also took the Formula Race Car lap record at the Wakefield Park track by a huge margin during the first race.
Team Manager Adam Gotch said, "After careful inspection of our F3 car over the last few weeks we discovered a few issues with the set-up of the car so expected our pace to be a little stronger at Wakefield Park. With a Pole position and 3 race wins, it was the perfect comeback after the issues we encountered on our debut in March."
Nathan qualified P1 on Saturday with a 2.8 second margin over Glenn Lynch and went on the lead Race 1 finishing the 16 lap race 20 seconds ahead of second place. Nathan also posted a fastest lap of 57.70s during this race, shaving seconds off the Formula Race Cars lap record of 101.27s.
Race 2 got underway to a poor start after four teams including the Snake Racing/AGI SPORT car stalled on cold tyres. The stall cost Nathan four places but by the end of the second lap he had fought his way back to second spot. The safety car was called out for two laps and after the race resumed Nathan took the lead from David Choon at turn eight to reclaim the 10 lap race.
Nathan again started in pole position and posted a convincing win for the third race and a clean sweep of the meeting. Manager Adam Gotch had this to say of his brother,"Nathan and the entire Snake Racing / AGI Sport Team performed exceptionally all weekend. Nathan’s confidence in the driver’s seat grows each time he climbs into the car and it showed with a mature drive to focus on what was needed to take all 3 wins over the weekend."
Team driver Nathan Gotch said, "I gained a lot of confidence in the car and confidence in myself to get the job done this weekend. The guys did a great job on the car and the whole team is now is gelling together really well. It was also exciting to post a positive result for the sponsors of the team. Without Snake Racing, Aqua Fire Protection, Truline Plumbing, Baileigh Industrial and other team partners we couldn’t get the car to the track so it was nice to post the wins for them."
Snake Racing /AGI SPORT Formula 3 Team were also kitted out with new team apparel to brave the cold Goulburn weather. New sponsor Valour Apparel supplied new shirts, pants and jackets for the team the week before the race.
Snake Racing/AGI Sport’s next outing is the third round of the NSW Motor Racing Championship at Eastern Creek on the 9th and 10th of June ahead of another tilt at the National F3 series at Eastern Creek on July 15.
