Two great Australian exports have teamed up in North America, with NASCAR driver Marcos Ambrose signing a marketing and promotional agreement with Blundstone Australia for the balance of the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
“As a kid growing up in Tasmania, Blundstone boots were almost part of the uniform for any outdoor activities, and I remember there was always a pair at the backdoor for me,” Marcos recalled.
“I know from the Blundstone Safety boots I’ve been wearing around the NASCAR garages that they’re going to get lots of interest in all workplaces around America.
“They’re obviously super comfortable, but I doubt there is a safer boot made anywhere in the world.”
As a part of the deal, Ambrose will carry Blundstone branding on his helmet, and the Blundstone Steel-Toed Safety Boots are now the official boot of his team, JTG Daugherty Racing.
“Marcos is a tough competitor and skilled athlete, who is also a gentleman and a very savvy business partner,” said Andrew Ross, CFO and Company Secretary of Blundstone Australia Pty Ltd.
“With Marcos, we look forward to a championship season on and off the track, and if anyone should know about the supreme importance of safety at work; it’s a guy racing round the track at over 300 kilometres per hour every weekend.”
Today at Richmond International Raceway for the Crown Royal presents the Heath Calhoun 400, Ambrose qualified the Bush’s Best Baked Beans/Kingsford Toyota Camry in 20th position in the 43 car field.
Kyle Busch will start from the pole position from David Reutimann and Jimmie Johnson, with the race to be broadcast live tomorrow from 9am on Fox Sports 3.
Prior to heading to Richmond International Raceway, Ambrose took part in a 250-lap late model charity race organised by Denny Hamlin, finishing in sixth after qualifying in 18th place.
