Will Power looks back on his first season with Penske

By Will Power

Well, the 2009 season was certainly one that I will never forget. For many reasons, this was one of my best seasons in racing. That may sound a bit strange, considering I only competed in six races, but I really learned a lot this season and I know that all of the experiences will make me a better driver in the long run.

Ryan Briscoe produced a stellar performance when he needed it most on Saturday, but fell just short of winning his first IndyCar Series championship. Briscoe and the No. 6 Team Penske squad had the fastest car and led the most laps in the Firestone Indy 300 Saturday night, but the team finished second overall and third in the series championship standings at the conclusion of the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Briscoe to start 3rd in title decider behind rivals

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (October 9, 2009) - Though he didn't earn the pole on Friday, Team Penske's Ryan Briscoe is still in position to win the IndyCar Series championship Saturday night at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Briscoe will start third in the Firestone Indy 300 on the 1.5-mile Homestead oval after a typically fast performance in the No. 6 Team Penske Dallara/Honda. Briscoe recorded a four-lap average of 212.137 mph, just a tick behind his two closest competitors in the championship race.
