Support Daniel Erickson and go into the draw for a trip to USA

E-mail Print PDF

Members of Team Erickson, the supporters club for Daniel Erickson, will get more than a warm and fuzzy feeling – they’ll also be in the running for a trip to the USA!

All Team Erickson members will go into the Star Mazda Competition draw on September 2 for the five-day trip to the final round of the Formula Star Mazda national championship at Road Atlanta in early-October.

Erickson plans to contest the 13-race Mazda-backed series, which has $US1.5M in end-of-season awards and is an official part of the Indy Racing League ‘Road to Indy’ program.

Team Erickson is a way for motor racing enthusiasts to demonstrate their support for the 22 year-old Australian as he aims for the top echelons of international competition.

The funds raised will offset expenses such as accommodation, transport, etc. not covered by commercial partnerships that pay race team fees.

As well as a Star Mazda Competition entry, Team Erickson member benefits include:
an official Team Erickson T-shirt embroidered with their name.
an entry in draws for a Formula Ford racetrack drive day and a Ferrari touring drive day to the NSW Hunter Valley or South Coast.
member's name or company/brand on the Team Erickson Members page of Daniel’s official website.
the latest news and images about Daniel’s 2010 Formula Star Mazda Championship campaign via email or post.
a donation to Father Chris Riley’s ‘Youth Off The Streets’ program.

Team Erickson 2010 membership costs $150, including a $50 application fee ($100 for subsequent years).

Details of the Star Mazda Competition, and an application for Team Erickson membership, can be found on Daniel Erickson.com.au

BACKGROUND

Formula Star Mazda is a long-established USA 'slicks and wings' openwheeler development category,

The cars have a common chassis, running gear and 185kW naturally aspirated Mazda rotary engine that gives a greater power:weight ratio than many development openwheeler categories, including Formula 3.

Daniel Erickson had a sensational test in early-December with leading Star Mazda team Mundill at MSR Houston Raceway.

On an unfamiliar circuit in unfavourable weather conditions, Erickson lapped the 3.4km Texas road course within a tenth of a second of Mundill’s best recorded current-spec Star Mazda time.

The Star Mazda test followed Erickson’s successful first overseas racing season, in which he was fifth overall and highest placed British debutant in the 2009 national Formula Ford championship.
