Sensational on-track drifting will be joined by an unprecedented line-up of off-track automotive entertainment, when the 2009 Drift Nationals hits Oran Park Raceway next Sunday, 20 September.
In addition to the country’s best drifters doing battle to become Australian Drift Champion, fans can check out a host of extra activities, including Remote Control Drifting, CarWars and a Pioneer Sound Off during the massive day.
The move is part of new owners 90 Degree Entertainment’s push to continue the growth of Drift Australia, a single-event at the historic Sydney circuit this year before reverting to a multi-round series in 2010.
“The 2009 Drift Nationals will be the ultimate automotive day out,” Drift Australia director James Fava said.
“On-track, the competition to become Australian Drift Champion will be fierce, and there’ll be plenty of things to enjoy off track as part of a total entertainment package.
“Remote Control Drifting, the Pioneer Sound Off and CarWars are all additions to the Drift Australia program that we’re really excited about taking to the fans at Oran Park.
“With the Drift Nationals on-track and the amazing collection of vehicles on display in CarWars and the Sound Off, the Drift Nationals will be like holding a car show at a motorsport event.”
Over 40 drivers have already entered Remote Control Drift, the latest, breath-taking variation of drifting to hit the scene.
High-tech, 1:10 scale cars capture the essence of the on-track action as drivers fight to be the RC Drift King of Australia.
An outstanding range of creative and show-stopping automotive bling will be at Oran Park in CarWars.
Australia's largest Customs and Modifiers Challenge, CarWars gives enthusiasts the opportunity to showcase their modified ride, competing in categories such as interior, airbrushing, undercarriage, conversions and engine bays.
The Pioneer Sound Off will be the ultimate in-car entertainment showdown, featuring some of the nation’s best and most-creative set ups, with Pioneer’s renowned vehicles part of the awesome display to see and hear.
With thanks to SABER, one lucky attendee will win a purpose-built Nissan Silvia S13 drift car, ready to hit the track and including lessons with Drift Australia star Fernando Wiehrl.
To enter the draw, fans can enter through the Drift Australia website - www.driftaustralia.com.au - or by texting ‘Drift’, their name and postcode to 19 19 18*.
The extensive line-up of off-track entertainment will complement some of the nation’s best drifting at Oran Park on September 20.
Over 60 drivers will star across two classes, Drift Australia and Super Drift, with an Extreme Entry Competition, Team Drifting and Expression Sessions completing a must-see event.
Tickets to the Drift Nationals can be pre-purchased through Ticketek for $35, by visiting ticketek.com.au or calling 123 849. Limited tickets will also be available at the gate for $40, while kids under 12 are free.
