ADR-DELTA will start their maiden Le Mans 24-Hour Race on Saturday (June 16th) from pole position in the LMP2 category thanks to a sensational lap this evening during final practice (Thursday) by John Martin.
With just under two hours of qualifying for the 80th edition of the famous endurance race remaining John took to the track at the wheel of number 25 Oreca 03 Nissan and stormed to the top spot to the delight of the team.
John’s fast lap capped a superb performance by the team throughout two days of qualification. It is the second consecutive LMP2 pole position for John and the team in a round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) coming on the back of a similar performance at Spa-Francorchamps last month.
John Martin: “I feel slightly giddy! To claim pole at Le Mans is a dream. I was on-track for a four lap run and I set the time on lap three. Thanks to all the guys at ADR-Delta, they gave me a great car for my shot at pole tonight and we all feel pretty good right now!”
Alan Docking, Team Principal: “That was something quite special by John this evening. He managed to find space on a busy track and was able to set the pole time on the last lap available to him. We are all very proud to have our car on pole position for the Le Mans 24-Hour Race.”
