QUALIFYING WILL TAKE ANOTHER step up in competition during this years Formula 3 Australian Drivers Championship following the announcement today of an expanded relationship between the series and Meguiar’s Australia.

After supporting the Formula 3 best presented award in 2009, Meguiar’s will expand their involvement in 2010 by sponsoring the Meguiar’s Pole Position award at each round.

The pole position winner at each round will receive Meguiar’s pole award jacket and a selection of qualify Meguiar’s car care products to keep their cars looking smart before the first race.

A handy $150 cash bonus will also be on offer for each pole winner.

Meguiar’s qualifying will take a new look this year with the existing two, 20-minute sessions replaced by one 15-minute time attack followed by a 10-minute single car shootout to be known as the Meguiar’s Quick Six - a format that will come into place from round two (at Symmons Plains) in April.

Meguiar’s will once again also sponsor an end-of-year best presented award to the team judged the best representative of the Formula 3 Australian Drivers’ Championship throughout the 2010 season.

“We are very pleased to welcome Meguiar’s back to the Formula 3 Australian Drivers Championship in 2010,” Formula 3 Australia Chairman Ian Richards said.

“If you walk up and down pit lane and ask the teams, qualifying is often seen as the most exciting part of the weekend and we believe the changes introduced this year will make it even better.

“To be able to reward the fastest driver on Saturday with the great support on offer from Meguiar’s is sensational. On behalf of the entire series we thank the staff at Meguiar’s for their support.”

Motor Active (Australian Meguiar’s distributor) General Manager, Mr. Andrew Spira, said his company was pleased to continue their support of Australia’s Premier Open Wheel Formula.

“We enjoyed our relationship with the Formula 3 Australian Drivers Championship last year and are very pleased to be back for an exciting new year,” Mr. Spira said.

“We were pleased to play a role last year in encouraging Formula 3 teams to present themselves professionally by offering rewards in the shape of Meguiar’s car care products.

“This year we will expand on that by offering an end-of-season best presented award and also rewarding the fastest drivers in Meguiar’s qualifying. It’s a thrilling part of any race weekend and it will be great to have our brand attached to those few minutes of excitement and pressure motorsport.

“Qualifying well requires commitment and preparation and we feel this has synergies with our brand values at Meguiar’s.”

The first round of the 2010 Formula 3 Australian Driver’s Championship for the CAMS Gold Star award will kick off this weekend at Wakefield Park in New South Wales.
