For Driver Skills Australia company director Mark Butcher – driver training is a combination of education, practical experience and attitude and community involvement.
Whilst we can’t stop all people from being dangerous on the road, Mark believes knowledge is power in the fight to reduce the road toll. His defensive driving courses are empowering drivers all over the country to handle dangerous situations and avoid potentially fatal situations.
“Our defensive driving courses are ideal for all drivers. We combine theory with practical ‘in your car’ exercises. There are ample opportunities to ask questions and for one on one time with our instructors”, says Mark. “What you learn in our courses will change the way you drive forever”.
The team at Driver Skills Australia also believes that being involved with the local community is also paramount in ensuring driver attitude and behaviour. “As a company we focus on working with local schools and community groups both by providing driver education and sponsorship” says Mark.
For Mark, keeping families safe is an integral part of the Driver Skills Australia culture – and that’s why they partnered with Ronald McDonald House Charities to help raise much needed funds.
“My twins were born premature and required surgery in Hobart which is 4 hours from our home. The friendly people at Ronald McDonald house looked after us all on this occasion and previously for nearly a month while we waited for the little ones to arrive. We feel privileged to be able to give something back and I'm sure my customers will be pleased to know some of their booking fee has gone to such a great cause” said Mark Butcher.
On the weekend Mark, with wife Amy and healthy twins Amelia and Carlos were proud to hand over a cheque for $610 to Ronald McDonald House Hobart manager Penny.
“We plan on making this a regular part of our company policy – as working closely with community groups and charities allows us to give back some of our knowledge to the local community” says Mark.
“It was also fun to be able to take some of the dads staying at Ronald McDonald House in Hobart for a ride around the block in the rally car” says Mark. “Having sick children and being away from your home and family is very challenging. I was very happy to be able to give some of the dads a little break”
Driver Skills Australia encourage all drivers to stay safe on and one of the best ways is to book into one of their defensive driver courses – run Australia wide.
